Helmets & Prices

Loaded question, I’m sure.

Shopping around for my first bike in many, many years which means I’ve been shopping for gear as well. Much has changed over the years and I really don’t have much of a clue about a lot of things so I’ve been doing some reading, browsing in shops, etc.

Been looking online at the Scorpion EXO700, cost around $200 or so. Went into a shop today and the guy tells me buy something that cheap and you get what you pay for – cheap. Starts showing me some Arai’s – $500+ as well as some Shoei’s at around $350. Tried the Shoei on it felt very nice, good fit I think.

So my question: does price really make a difference in the quality of the helmet or I guess more specifically, does the higher price equate to better protection?

Never imagined I would have so many headaches shopping for a motorcycle!
