
Riding the Americas the long way– from Alaska’s northern latitudes to Tierra del Fuego, the southernmost tip of South America– is a trip not to be taken lightly. Yet 2,000 or so adventure-seeking folks attempt to ride the 17,000 mile stretch every year.
Argentinian Ivan Pisarenko started the journey on his Honda Transalp with the obligatory wanderlust (and perhaps a bit of naïveté), and five years later is just about to finish up the last 1,900 miles of the trip. Between then and now, he’s faced gun-wielding bandits, broken bones, and arduous border crossings, taking his time on a journey that has grown into an epic experience for the 33 year-old.
