Alaska to Tierra del Fuego via Motorcycle, the Hard Way

Long distance motorcycle touring from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego
Riding the Americas the long way– from Alaska’s northern latitudes to Tierra del Fuego, the southernmost tip of South America– is a trip not to be taken lightly. Yet 2,000 or so adventure-seeking folks attempt to ride the 17,000 mile stretch every year.

Argentinian Ivan Pisarenko started the journey on his Honda Transalp with the obligatory wanderlust (and perhaps a bit of naïveté), and five years later is just about to finish up the last 1,900 miles of the trip. Between then and now, he’s faced gun-wielding bandits, broken bones, and arduous border crossings, taking his time on a journey that has grown into an epic experience for the 33 year-old.
